Second, a wardrobe overflowing with clothes is inadvertent at best, and a disaster at worst. It’s no surprise that most of us only wear 20% of the clothes we own! What a Capsule Wardrobe Can Do for You

When it comes to wardrobe decision fatigue, my advice is to aggressively purge your closet. Get rid of whatever you don’t use!

I recommend that you conduct some personal research in order to discover your personal style:

1. Take a Closet Inventory

When you’re unsure of your personal style, the greatest place to start is in your own closet.

To figure out your personal style, ask yourself the following questions:

  • What do you already have in your possession?
  • What does it take for you to feel like yourself?
  • What do you usually buy when you go shopping?
  • What are your favorite colors to wear?
  • Which designs or textures do you prefer?
  • Do you prefer to dress more casually or more formally?
  • What do you have in your closet that you don’t wear, and why?
  • What do you feel most at ease in?

2. Use Pinterest to find ideas.

The second method for determining your personal style is to conduct some online research. Pinterest is my favorite spot to do this. Simply type in terms like “autumn style,” “casual clothing,” “boho style,” or “plus-size outfits” to see what comes up.

I recommend creating a Pinterest board for outfit and style inspiration. If you like, you can even make the board private! All you have to do now is search for clothes on Pinterest and start pinning everything you like.

After you’ve been pinning for a time, you should be able to open up the board you made and begin to notice patterns. Do certain designs, clothing, colors, or patterns seem to beckon to you? Take heed!

Give your style a name using the information you’ve gathered. Alternatively, if you enjoy a variety of styles, make a note of the ones you prefer for future reference.

The effort you spent examining your closet and looking for ideas on the internet to find your style will pay off big time the next time you need to go shopping.

This information will assist you in selecting items that you will wear on a daily basis. It will also assist you avoid purchasing clothing that will just sit in your closet collecting dust.

That’s why Stitch Fix’s guide to dressing for your body shape is one of my favorites. They even have a built-in calculator that will tell you what body type you are based on your measurements.

Find out which colors compliment your skin tone.

There are so many hues to choose from, which is both exciting and intimidating! We’ve undoubtedly all looked back at photos of ourselves and wondered, “OMG, why did I wear that color?”

Finding colors that suit your skin tone might be difficult, but there are some methods for determining your underlying skin tone and complementary hues.
